The ever-popular Pete West of Reliance Asset Consulting will join us to talk about insurance appraisals. How can insurance appraisals help Boards in times of high insurance rates and fluctuating construction costs.

WHAT IS AN INSURANCE APPRAISAL?

As legislated in the Alberta Condominium Act insurance is a matter of insuring all common improvements. As part of the insurance requirements common site improvements and demolition are included in the appraisal report. Unit owner's improvements or betterments (if required in the corporations by-laws) must also be addressed. This is the least understood aspect of condominium insurance.

WHAT IS A GOOD APPRAISAL?

Pete will guid you through the process involved in creating a good appraisal. Pete will talk us through the Goldilocks rule - not too little insurance, not too much insurance. How to delineate between builder standard (benchmarks) and betterments is on the list and even how to calculate total loss and rebuild. We're looking forward to having Reliance Asset Consulting talk through how to provide the best information and resources to your boards.
